A Program for Helpers with Heart

The Healers’ Clinic

We, Drs. Bill and Linda Pettit, are excited to be offering this type of program! We have a combined total of 80 years experience working with people and educating helpers. We also have 50 years as students and sharers of the Three Principles.

We have shared the Three Principles as university educators, helping professionals and consultants to mental health and healthcare organizations, correctional facilities, businesses and the public, both nationally internationally. We know that love and understanding are the answer to everything and that light-heartedness is essential to the journey!

The Healers’ Clinic starts September 11, 2019, is limited to nine participants for more intimate and individual attention and includes the following:

  • 20 two-hour practitioner sessions
  • Based on the original works of Sydney Banks
  • Case consultations during practitioner sessions
  • Individual intake with Bill and Linda
  • Two individual sessions with Bill (50 min. each)
  • Two individual sessions with Linda (50 min. each)
  • Ten one-hour What’s on Your Mind? calls

Who is This Program For?

The Healers’ Clinic is for people who want to help others find gentler, more loving, creative and productive lives by sharing the Three Principles.

You will find this training helpful if you are employed in: mental health, healthcare, executive and life coaching, education, law and law enforcement, leadership and sports, among others.

When we began sharing the Three Principles, many of the assumptions and approaches from our professional training no longer made sense to us. Yet, much of our knowledge continued to be useful and valuable to people, especially as we saw it through the lens of the Three Principles. The insight-based process of seeing our professional knowledge from psychiatry and psychology through the lens of the Principles has continued for us over a combined total of 50 years!

Through the years, helper/healers have told us they were having some difficulty shifting from their professional “starter kits” to their emerging, evolving understanding of the Three Principles. We saw that some of this confusion stemmed from mistaken beliefs or myths about what the Three Principles understanding prescribes or prohibits. Among these misunderstandings:

  • There is no value in allowing a person to share their life stories, past painful experiences or present painful emotions.
  • People just need to know that it is all thought.
  • People with certain diagnoses or experiences can’t be helped by understanding the Three Principles
  • You could damage people on psychiatric medications by sharing the Principles.

While these myths may have a grain of truth, this program will assist helpers to see them with clarity, from their own wisdom, as they navigate the new, exciting and effective world they are experiencing.

The Format

20 Two-Hour Practitioner Sessions

At the heart of The Healers’ Clinic are twenty two-hour long practitioner sessions (see schedule), from 12-2pm MST or 1-3pm MST  ( Due to Daylight Savings Time Changes) on the Zoom platform. We’ll record them in case you need to miss one or want to listen again.

Each session we’ll collaborate to share our thoughts about topics from five main categories:

  • Developing and keeping a productive helping relationship
  • The arts of listening for health and sharing the Principles
  • The implications of the Principles to the current mental health paradigm
  • The health of the healer
  • Other areas of interest raised by the participants

After our 30-minute presentation, we’ll invite discussion about the topic and then invite questions and insights related to the recommended material from Syd Banks’  work. The last 45 minutes of our sessions, we’ll focus specifically on your work with clients.  During the program, you’ll be able to sign-up for a minimum of four 20-minute case consultation segments so that you can share and get feedback about your work.

Collegial Sharing

We want the Healers’ Clinic to have a bit of structure but also a lot of flexibility so that you can share questions that are important to you. We’ve reserved the last 45 minutes of each practitioner session for discussion.

Possible topics could include, but aren’t limited to:

  • trauma,
  • addictions,
  • relationships,
  • addressing life concerns such as grief, illness or chronic pain,
  • working with youth,
  • addressing depression, anxiety, or psychosis,
  • working with people with diagnostic labels such as personality disorders, and/or
  • your work with clients.

What’s On Your Mind? Group Calls

The twelve one-hour “What’s on Your Mind?” calls are for:

  • asking questions,
  • sharing insights
  • discussing the practitioner sessions,
  • exploring your reading or watching of Syd’s original work,
  • sharing your personal challenges.

Hosted alternately by Linda and Bill, these calls will provide time for you to ask questions of, or share insights with, two seasoned practitioners who have very different helping styles. You’ll also be able to tap into the wisdom, knowledge and experience within the group. We’re sure these calls will be lighthearted, fascinating and practical.

Many of our clients have healed from psychological and spiritual struggles as a result of direct exposure to Syd’s insights.

The Original Works of Sydney Banks

Although an ordinary man with limited formal education, Sydney Banks had a certainty about the logic behind life and love. His certainty originated in a glimpse into the nature of Mind, which has been known by many names across time. This glimpse allowed him to uncover the three universal gifts/principles of Mind, Thought and Consciousness.

Before and during The Healer’s Clinic, we will explore Syd’s six small books, one at a time, and ask that you listen to at least one set of his videos. These materials are a valuable, primary resource to the Truth that we are all made of but have shrouded with thought.

Syd’s insights about the Three Principles are descriptive, not prescriptive.  He points to how life works. We share his material because of its depth and clarity.

Two Individual Sessions with Dr. Bill Pettit

“Bill has very strong humanness–compassion, joy, generosity. He excels at getting the Three Principles across to even the most resistant clients. His strongest quality, in my opinion, is the faith he has in people’s innate mental health. He generates tremendous hope in his clients, which has certainly contributed to his success.”

– George Pransky, Ph.D.

In June of this year, I will be celebrating the anniversary of my 50th graduation from medical school. I have had a broad range of clinical and personal experiences as a student, physician, psychiatrist, academic teacher, consultant, mentor, husband, father and friend. Of these experiences, the most significant and far-reaching was meeting Sydney Banks in 1983 and receiving mentoring and friendship from him for the next 26 years until his death in 2009.

In his sharing the Three Universal Principles of Mind, Consciousness and Thought, Mr. Banks opened a world of understanding that has allowed me to incrementally experience a more peaceful, loving, productive, healthy and joyful life, than I ever could have imagined. My journey has been uneven, but the direction has always been towards more love and understanding. With more than a bit of truth, I lightheartedly have made it clear that I learn slowly but forget quickly.

Through these many years, I have done my best to share what I have seen. In these latter years of my life, my intention is to document in writing and mentoring how an insight- based understanding of these universal Principles brings new hope to medicine, psychiatry, psychology, law, politics and to the differences that have made relationships difficult from individuals to world powers. There indeed is One Solution: Love and Understanding.

This 12-month mentoring program done in concert with my loving and wise wife and friend, Linda, is an attempt to share that hope and pass forward my own good fortune to others to share, as they are guided to do.

Two Individual Sessions with Dr. Linda Pettit

“The power of Linda’s loving style and “deep listening” helped to create the space for me to listen to my own process and allow wisdom and truth to emerge within me.”

– Bill Hutcherson, Ph.D., Psychologist | California

As we complete our Healer’s Clinic sessions, I want you, first and foremost, to sense that I have showed up fully in the moment, my mind quiet and open so that I can listen to you deeply and well.

Second, I want you see the wisdom that is already surfacing within you, perhaps just a bit hidden by your personal, conceptual thinking.

And, finally, I know the direction of our work is that you have deeper insights from within about the nature of the Three Principles, Mind, Thought and Consciousness.  Not infrequently, as I am quietly in the moment with clients, specific quotes from Syd Banks and what they mean to me, just show up to share.

Seeing the mystical, spiritual nature of the Three Principles enables me to talk about the sacred beauty and love to be found in everything, always.

Recently, a client and colleague said to me, “You weave into our conversations fresh understanding, grounded in the Principles, about many ideas and concepts from psychology, spirituality and coaching.  Your ability to do this is so second nature, I don’t think you know how valuable this is!”  My long-standing work as a helper/healer educator has provided opportunities to reflect on helping skills, theories and research and to see where they point to eternal, unchanging truth and where they fall short.

While I look forward to sharing fresh insights with you, I am especially curious about yours. I hope we will both leave our sessions together with a bit more certainty about the logic of love and understanding that we can pay forward by sharing it with others. I’m so quietly excited about working with my ever-loving husband, Bill, and with you, in this Healer’s Clinic.
